It was amazing to hear the extraordinary piece of music Swallowtail and other great songs from Martyn's first record played on Saturday last weekend at the Liet-Lavlut festival of 2008 in Luleå, Sweden, played in the great concert hall during the pause. I think Martyn would have enjoyed to discover his music to accompany Europe's greatest event for music in minority languages. His music will live on as a great source of inspiration for cultural revival and the folk music scene here in Sweden as well. As Liet-Lavlut was a source of inspiration - a collection of true engagement in and love for cultural heritage in various forms and a statement against mainstreaming of language, music and culture, manifested around Europe. Martyn contributed to this and we miss him!

Video footage of the Fundacion Emmanuel project added to the webpage which culminated in November 2007 with two concerts by the Children’s Choir and a performance of Martyn’s 'MacKay's Memoirs' in the University of Buenos Aires and the immense Cathedral of La Plata.

I was never lucky enough to see Martyn live although I am a massive fan of him and his work. He's really inspired me musically and in life in general. I'm a piper and whistle player myself and I would love to know if anyone knows what the tune played at the end of hallaig is called and anywhere i can get hold of some music?

Thank. Sam

I was lucky enough to see both of Martyns gigs at cambridge folk festival. The 1st one introduced me the Bothy Culture and I was blown away by the feeling of the music and how it made me feel. The 2nd gig for Hardland, I knew what to expect and I was not dissapointed.
Even now I have 1 song which for me is the start of the summer and the festival season, Erin.

Thank you.

I have been a fan of Martyn's music since my girlfriend, Claire [now my wife] introduced me to his music. I never did get to see him live; I even travelled up from Southampton for Hamish Moore's "the Piper and the Maker" concert which Martyn was unable to make. I loved the concert, but I travelled all that way just to see my musical hero. Claire had the privilege of working with Martyn at West Highland Animation many years ago, something I'll be eternally jealous of.

For a man I have never met, Martyn has been a constant companion through his recordings which inspired me to write my own music again, finally start playing the pipes and build my own smallpipes.

Immense, exceptional, talented, groundbreaking..........what else is there to say.

We live in Crieff, not far from the magnificent Glen Lyon which Martyn immortalised.

Take care Margaret and Kirsten.

I am desperately trying to get hold of Mckay's memoirs. If anyone knows where to get one or if they have one to sell please get in touch.

Thanks in advance.
